Alexandria, Minnesota Parks & Trails
The Alexandria area is abundant with parks from city and county parks to state parks featuring a variety of amenities and activities for the entire family. Most facilities are open year round for outdoor fun and recreation from hiking and biking to skiing and skating.
The Central Lakes Trail stretches 55 miles from Fergus Falls to Osakis and connects with the Lake Woebegone Trail which runs from Osakis to St. Joseph. The trail winds through unpopulated, pristine areas of woods, rivers and streams, lakes, farm land, hardwood forests, and prairies as well as through 10 communities of varying sizes. Because the trail is built along an old railroad bed, the grade is easy for walking or pedaling a bicycle. Non-motorized vehicles only are allowed on the trail.
The trail is enjoyed by thousands of hikers and bicyclists who find many rest stops and points of interest in either direction from Alexandria. Trail users can find restaurants and shopping in the communities on or near the trail.
